About PSoCDeveloper
"What is PSoCDeveloper", is a common question and one that I'll try to answer here. Put simply PSoCDeveloper is the unofficial home for PSoC developers. Unofficial because PSoCDeveloper is not run by Cypress Semiconductor or Cypress MicroSystems. Home because this is where the PSoC development community hangs out, PSoCDeveloper is not just a site.
PSoCDeveloper was created by and is maintained by Eric Blom. In the interest of full disclosure Eric Blom is currently an employee of Cypress Semiconductor. My goal for PSoCDeveloper is to provide a place for PSoC developers, both experienced and new, to gain and share their knowledge of PSoC based products. PSoCDeveloper will try to provide the systems necessary to share and to find information about PSoC efficiently. However, the bulk of the content will be created by the registered community members of PSoCDeveloper.
PSoCDeveloper is the place to stretch out, unwind, experiment, and explore the expanding world of PSoC development. You will find that PSoCDeveloper has users of all experience levels. If you hang around long enough you will see new users turn into experts and expert users turn into mentors. Every skill level has a place here. Don't be bashful, lend a hand to a fellow PSoC developer by replying to their question in the forums.
Why PSoCDeveloper? For a product to be successful it's users must have a place that they feel is there own in addition to a corporate site. While Cypress is the official home of PSoC, PSoCDeveloper is the grass roots come in and get your hands dirty home of PSoC. The emphasis, at PSoCDeveloper, is on smart people (that is you) sharing information (that is you) and developing a publicly accessible PSoC knowledge base. This knowledge base is not just about a section of a web site titled, "Knowledge Base", it is about making the process of questioning, discussing, and answering public in the forums. It is about sharing your cool project, new home grown user module, or application note with the rest of the community here. Because the emphasis is on sharing information and this is a community site PSoCDeveloper takes no responsibility for the accuracy of information contained at the site. Sorry, I can't read and approve all content. I've got to spend time at my paying job! Remember, this site is not run by Cypress, so, nothing here should be considered to be the offical position of Cypress Semiconductor unless expressly stated.
What's up with the, "Ads by Google", boxes. PSoCDeveloper is not supported financially by Cypress Semiconductor, Cypress MicroSystems or any other company directly. As such I've chosen Google's advertising programs as a way to cover the costs of running this web site. Basically the ads are a necessary evil. However, the ads do provide real benefits to visitors to the site. For example in early 2005 the advertising revenue made a server upgrade possible that greatly improved the performance of the site. I hope that you do not find the ads obtrusive and for the most part do find them relevant.
So, that is PSoCDeveloper in a nutshell. Thanks for reading this far! If you have comments on the site feel free to post them in the general forum or use the feedback form.
Cheers,
Eric
Note: Cypress MicroSystems claims a trade mark on "Programmable System-on-Chip," PSoC and PSoC Designer.
PSoC Creating Jobs
A person has an idea. Maybe that person convinces someone with enough money to fund turning the idea into a product. If all goes as advertised both people make money. But, there is more to business than this simple chain of events. Real success has a ripple effect touching the lives of many more people. Real success also creates dependencies between parties that were once completely disconnected.
Due to the success PSoC jobs have been created all over the world. Some of the jobs are directly with Cypress Semiconductor while others are many levels removed. For example the many consultants, authors, and companies selling products to support PSoC developers. PSoCDeveloper has been growing too. To support the growing number of users and needs of the PSoC developer community PSoCDeveloper has selected Cannonbose, LLC for website development consulting. If you are in need of TYPO3 consulting or website graphics design and branding work check out Cannonbose.
Capitalism what a beautiful thing!
