Anyone want a Wireless First touch Board?
I got a hold of three of our CY3271 Wireless first touch kit. Our CEO has done a short video about using it in his winery. I also used it for out last webinar sponsered by EDN. (I don't have a Winery, I'm not a winer)
Anywho, I have three that I will give away for the best application suggestions. R
Here is my entries. An RF Dew point alarm. It measures wet bulb/dry bulb and send the data back to our PC that the DEW point is about to happen.
Proximity detector to determine if your kid has got out of bed. Great for the transition from crib to bed.
So far these are the best ideas and I win all three kits. Come up with something cooler, more clever, or funny and I made give you one.
Respond here with the general idea but e-mail me with the details. (You know, how you would implement it!)
Note: Nothing dirty. If I am going to have to take harassment training over again I want it to be for something I did.

My project: Wattmeter for human power on a bycicle
One part of the cyfi-link will do the force-measurement on the rotating pedal, while the second part drives the display mounted on the handle bar. (it seems, as if the CY3271 contains all needed electronic hardware right out of the box)
I hope this project will be one of three (not seven of nine), ebirn

My application suggestion:
Now days water is a precious element. My application is for home garden.
Wireless humidity sensor to decide to water the grass or not.
Normally garden is watered periodically, but probably that is not the best way to do it. Let’s water it only when it is thirsty. this can vary on many factors, like temperature, sunlight, rain, wind... A simple humidity sensor made with a NTC and placed a inche deep under the grass will decide when watering is needed. As will be wireless we can place on different or strategic points to measure humidity on different sectors of the garden.
I hope you like it.

Home Automation - easy three way wireless applications, i.e. adding light switches where there are none. Adding proximity sensing to stairways for LED lighting to light up stairs as people walk on them.

I'd like to make a meshed-network "Star Trek Communicator" badge.
Most of the time, the badges run idle and transmit very little data.
When a hand comes close to the badge, the capsense detects the impending touch and turns on a network-wide wakeup to run at a higher data rate.
When the hand touches the badge, audio transmit/receive occurs at full data rate.

The "Uber"soldering station with a "reflow oven" thrown in to the mix. I could make use of a standard baking oven and SMT solder reflow fine pitch SMD parts on my PCBs for cheap.
(1)Use the Cy-Fi for remotely profiling the oven temperature on a PC and the PSoC to run the profile algorithm depending on user inputs that will use capsense slider POTs.
(2)Control a solid state relay to turn on/off a Leister solder iron based on proximity sensing so that it is turned on only when somebody wants to solder.
(3)Could control another solid state relay for PID loop temperature control for a Leister rework heat gun.So by accurately monitoring surface temperature and throttling it, I would not blow holes on my FR4 any more.
This assembly/rework station would be very energy efficient and would use all the resources available on the First touch kit effectively.

My entry:
CUD. It will utilize all the possible resources of CY3271. LEDs and speaker are used to indicate current status, Capsense to set the options, temperature, and light are considered also, and the proximity of people in order to activate the device from standby.
Then all collected information is transmitted RF
P.S. a little clarification: CUD: "completely useless device"
:)

My proposal: low-power (or solar-powered) intrusion detection. You could hide/place the miniature sensors just about anywhere in the region to be "protected".

Wireless temperature sensor with the base wired into the thermostat, so when the temperature difference between the 2nd and 1st floors is more than 5F or so, it kicks on the furnace fan to distribute the heat / cold more evenly within the house.

One of the concerns with the aging of the general population is making sure that older individuals are okay, even when we can't always be physically present to monitor them. My idea for a "geriatric" activity monitor would be to measure toilet usage. I am being serious here with this idea! Toilet "hangers" used to freshen and clean the toilet after each flush have been around for years. A smart monitor would track the occurrence of each toilet flush. An additional feature would be to check if the fluid level in the toilet returned to and stayed at a nominal level after each flush. Failure to do so would indicate a possible plumbing problem (Something that is often a problem for the elderly to handle). Increased or decreased toilet usage, in themselves, might be useful as indicators of possible health issues.
Capacitive sensors could be used to monitor tank fluid levels, usage of the flush handle, whether the toilet seat and lid are raised or lowered, and (with a suitably modified toilet seat) determine "actual" use rather than just casual flushing. The RF capability would be used to communicate data from the toilet-mounted unit to the base unit for additional evaluation and transmission over the Internet or the cellular network.
