I received a letter  and phone call from Jim Williams after my last column.

Now you are wither saying.  DAVE TALKED TO JIM WILLIAMS!!!

or  Jim Williams??????

Well Jim is a analog god that works for Linear Tech.  He is also a heck of a nice guy.  He sent me some material about an Engineer named D H Wilkinson.

D H was one of those brilliant guys that never seemed to make any money.  He patented dual slope and had it stolen by most.

Hewlett and Packard paid the royalty because that was the kind of gentlemen they were.  Mr Fluke honored his patent by not using it.  Instead they came up with recirculating remainder.  (regurgitating error)   I knew Mr Fluke. My father knew  both Bill and Dave.  All three true gentlemen.

So is Jim.  generous with is knowledge.  Little ego that I could detect.  He just seemed to enjoy talking analog with some who liked that kind of stuff.
