AN2361: USB-Powered Battery Charger for NiCd/NiMH Batteries

This Application Note describes a USB-powered battery charger for NiCd/NiMH batteries that permits rapid recharging. Dedicated PC-based software has been developed to monitor and control the charging process in real time, and display data in a graphical user interface. The charger can be embedded into consumer, office and industrial applications. It needs no drivers and starts working immediately when plugged into a USB port. A battery can be left in the charger for any length of time without risk of overcharge.
