This Application Note details methods to control and automate electrical testing of LEDs. The automation is particularly useful since LEDs are currently tested through visual verification -- a process that is highly time intensive and prone to human error. There are two flavors of implementation detailed in this Application Note. The first version uses the CY8C21434, giving I2C control of the LEDs and a testing mode that automatically controls, configures and tests all of the LEDs in a design. The second version uses the CY8C24794 and performs testing only, of up to 46 LEDs, but requires the end application to configure and drive the LEDs in the desired method.
