PSOC Designer & ICE-Cube

Postby SEA on Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:42 pm

I'm trying to get up and running with a design I inherited. I installed PSoC Designer 5.1 SP2 but I can't seem to connect to my emulator (ICE-Cube Rev. B). Windows complains "USB Device Not Recognized". In PSoC Designer, Project>Settings>Debugger:Select ICE Device has no emulator options available.

I'm guessing it's a driver problem, but I don't know how to fix this issue. I removed PSoC Designer and re-installed to no avail.

Please advise.

Having the ICE connected, please go to the MyComputer->device manager->find unrecognized hardware, select update driver and set to search for a driver in c:\Program Files\Cypress\Programmer\3.13\drivers\psoccube\

When I update the device driver from this location, a Windows pop up displays "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware."

I tried restarting my computer and repeating this process, but the same message is displayed.

If your system is 64 bit, you'll have different path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cypress\Programmer\3.13\drivers\psoccube

I do not have a 64bit machine. I'm running Windows XP Pro v2002 SP3.

The path you gave me appears to have the correct files:
psoccube.inf
psocusb.cat
psocusb.sys

I don't understand USB devices, but I have a feeling Windows is entirely confused somehow and can't associate the ICE with the driver. I've run into this sort of thing before with programmers. This is the first time updating the driver / restarting the machine hasn't worked.

BTW, I appreciate the help!! :-)

Windows is agonizing. I switched to a different computer and Windows can recognize the ICE. Onward!
