CSR bug?

Postby Jaco on Sat Mar 10, 2007 5:29 pm

Hi,

I'm trying tp play with a CY8C21534 but it seems that I haven't earned it's trust on the first "touch", so it's getting the hard way...
I've installed the following:

- Designer 4.3 SP2 build 305
- CY8C20x34 build 394
- CY8C24x94 build 128
- Programmer v. 2.20.0.14

The installation order is as listed...

I've built a new project using 21534 and made all interconnections in the Device Editor... Next I've tryied to use CSR wizard to setup the sensors...

The problem is that when I'm trying to type in the "N Sensors" block a value more 9 (i.e. 12) then the number in the text box refuses to take more that one digit... So, when I'm typing "12" it gets "01" and then "02". Of course there are 13 pins available for assignment in the wizard but I can't assigned more than 9... :?

Is this a known bug or I've missed something...?

I've also tryied to edit the csr.h and csr.inc files to assign 12 buttons, but the wizard doesn't seem to change it's behaviour...

Any ideas...?

Thanks in advance,

Jaco

The CSR wizard does have some annoying interface problems. First clear the box by using the Backspace and then type the 2 digit number. That should work.

Also, I would recommend that you start any new designs with CSD instead of CSR as CSD has better noise rejection, better sensitivity etc.

Thanks graaja,

you were right. I was expected that this bug should be documented somewhere, it's so simple to solve but it may be so hard to find.

Also, I would like to say my opinion about Capsense.
I think it's a very good idea from Cypress to make such a nice products. I like more the CY8C24894, CY8C21534 and CY8C21634.
But... there is a thing that cypres probably missed... All the capsense family has only 4 digital blocks and CSR takes 3 of them...! therefore there is only one digital block available... I don't know why they did it, but I hope that they will release 6 or 8 digital block psoc because with 4 digital blocks it's impossible to use usart and CSR...
Finally, thumbs up for Cypress' fast and quality support... I think they're up to something as the last year they seem more aggressive as regards products and prices...

P.S. If there are any cypress engineers reading this thread... please integrate 2 or more digital blocks...
