Migrating to the new forum

Postby haz » Mon May 19, 2014 6:47 am

I spent a good portion of the weekend setting up the new forum on PSoCDeveloper.com to allow for better integration with the WordPress framework I have migrated the website to.

As I mentioned in earlier communication, the move to WordPress is more for a long term vision for the site rather than just getting it to work. Long term vision includes members contributing to the site outside of just the forum. I see members being able to upload projects under specified categories, members uploading code snippets, components, and knowledge base articles, etc…all in a simple, searchable, and categorized repository.

In order to do that, there is no better time to migrate then now. However, due to compatibility, I was not able to move 100% of the existing forum. There are a few things we need to do to make this happen and shift completely to the new forum.
1.The new forum can be found under http://www.psocdeveloper.com/forum/
2.All usernames from the existing forum have been moved to the new website. However, due to security reasons, the passwords were not copied over. All you need to do is enter your username/email on the login screen at http://www.psocdeveloper.com/my-account/ and click on the forgot my password. This will reset your password for you then you can proceed to changing it if you would like.
3.All forums have been moved over. PSoC1, which is the largest forum, was not successfully moved over. The converter was only able to import about half of the posts, unfortunately, it was the old half. But in order to ensure no information is lost, I will of course maintain the forum as an archive, fully searchable, and linked from the main website.
4.I will lock the existing forum. Please start moving all of your topics to the new forum.
5.If you are interested in becoming a moderator, or a contributor, feel free to send me a note via our Contact Us form at http://www.psocdeveloper.com/contact-us/.
6.The new forum features. Some of which are already enabled, some are in progress and will be within the next week
7.The complete features and the details of this post can also be found at http://www.psocdeveloper.com/migrating- ... developer/

Thanks,
