6800 and 8080 interface with psoc 3

Postby jon1989 » Tue Sep 17, 2013 2:39 am

Hi

I am currently trying to display LCD which has a lcd driver ST7565P , it has 2 type of communication , 6800 and 8080 . i am currently using 6800 but ... no reaction from the lcd . i already have a sets of codes running ... on pic 24 which uses 6800 to the driver , so i dont wan to change much just mcu itself . Does Psoc 3 able to communicate with the lcd driver using 6800 ?

Yes, you may connect a PSoC 1,3,4 or 5 to a ST7565P. to reduce needed pin count I would suggest you to use the SPI interface selection of the ST7565P and drop and maintain an SPI usermodule to send data to your LCD-Controller. this will require just 4 pins (command/data, /CS, Data and Clock).

If you need to keep the parallel interface for driver reasons the EMIF component in PSOC should do the
trick. This is a memory interface and for these older processor interfaces the emif shoud be able to
do the job. Or roll your own in Verilog, or just use the standard digital functions in Creator to accomplish.

The LCD is working , it was just a connection problem . The communication seems very straightforward . Thanks
