PSoC 3 FTK - Unrecognized USB Device.

Postby kmmankad » Thu Apr 21, 2011 8:06 am

I was experimenting with the Quick Start "PSoC Rocks!" example, when suddenly,on plugging the board back in,it showed up as an Unrecognized USB Device.

Problem Backgroud:
-I was working on it all day, interfacing it with a network chip(http://kmmankad.blogspot.com/2011/04/psoc3-enc28j60-it-blinks.html),and it behaved normal all the time.
-I have the latest of both,Creator and Programmer, running on a Windows 7,64bit environment.
-Removed all software, drivers etc,and reinstalled it all.
-Switched USB Cables
-Tried it on different computers.

Observation:The board still has power..The POV Display works( "PSoC Rocks!" ).

Please let it not be dead :'( ...was just beginning to love it :'(

I had another board where uninstall/reboot/install of driver, after several
attempts worked. I found that reinstall of Creator did not help.

Not much help, Dana.

unrecognized device is typically a VID/PID of zero, if that's the case on your machine, I guess it has to be the hardware/PSoC firmware problem and not a driver problem.

The tiny 5 legger beside the CY7C68013A-56LFXC is the EEPROM,rite? ...too tiny to replace :(

I am suspecting a CY7C68013A failure rather than the EEPROM failure. I guess even if EEPROM VID/PID is not read properly, there is a hard coded value inside the CY7C68013A, its unlikely that the hard coded value is 0.

Why don't you get some free USB bus analyzer tools and post the captures here?

Well,
before I went into USB debugging,I pulled out my multimeter, and surprisingly found the Vcc at 2.4v. All the places that are supposed to be 3.3,are 2.4.The ZETEX Vout, the FX2's Vcc-s,EEPROM Vcc etc. That doesnt look right, but I am no CyPro.

Is this normal?

I touch the probes from my LM317 based 3.3v supply to pins 5(Vout) and 7(Gnd) on the ZLD 0330,and reinsert the cable, and Bingo!..We are back! :) ..the FTK3 comes up on the PC.Looks if like i'll wire in my own 3.3v regulator, and will be able to use it again. :) The Voltage regulator seems to be the issue. Rebirth!..what a feeling :) :) :)
