Cortex-M0 device recognized but Psoc CCreator doesnt support

Postby tylerjaywilson » Wed Oct 16, 2013 1:58 pm

I am using the Miniprog3 and attempting to flash the CY8CC4245AXI-483 (PSoC 4 family). The following screen shot shows the issue that I am having. Outside of the screen shot it also is indicated that "This target device is already In use by another client". What are some of the possibilities of this error? Initially I checked our hardware and verified that all of the pins had a good connection. Other ideas?

I get this from time to time, normally when my Target board is not powered.
Ensure your target board is powered, or that the Miniprog3 is able to supply enough power to the board, re-start Creator and try again.

Also keep the miniprog3 as close as possible to the board being programmed, eliminate any jumper cables between the mini-prog3 and the board if you can. (In 5-wire mode).

After checking the powers and grounds, it appears that all of the grounds and powers are correct. We are using the standard 10 pin miniprog3 jumper cable. It is strange because we have 2 boards and they are both giving us the same issue.

Do you have any of the same boards which do program successfuly?
If not, then I'd say you need to take a close look at the board design.
Use an oscilloscope to check the signals at the chip pins, and check the chip VDD levels tool.

Tyler,

Yes, I had the same issue.
1) Close PSoC Creator
2) Open the standalone "PsocProgrammer" application
3) Use the "PsocProgrammer" application to load your hex file the first time.
4) Once the PSoC4 silicon is initialized, then you can program normally from Creator.

This occurs on new silicon that has never been programmed.
You don't see it with the development boards as they have all been initialized once,
but you will run into the problem bringing up your own boards for the very first time,
like I did on my Videre Board :

best regards,
Tom
