Analog Mux Routing

Postby danadak on Thu Oct 27, 2011 5:50 am

There seems to be a limitation where one cannot route the output of one
analog mux to the input of another analog mux. Seems unfortunate. I
tried using "join" but that did not work either.

Below is a schematic and the buffers on the right side feeding mux to
ADC are actually not needed because of the hi Zin of ADC. In other
words I want to eliminate the second buffer in a signal path and directly
connect first mux output into second mux input.

Mux to mux connections are tricky, but not impossible, consider the following:

Yes, you have to enable connection 2 on each of the muxes, and AmuxBusL/AmuxBusR probably aren't the best choices. You can look at the analog picture and pick appropriate wires. This does exactly what you want without the buffers.

Thanks abitkin, took some time before I got my head around the switching occuring,
trying to think of whats going on output side of first mux. Obvious to anyone
not mentally challenged

The real problem is the language in my opinion. When I read multiplexer I think only one connection can be active at one time.

Also the error message is a little confusing, the common connection is not well defined for everyone.
