M8C Programmers (from m8cutils)

Questions about programming (not codeing) PSoCs and Encore II as well as freeware programming hardware and software are discussed here. This is also the place to talk about production programming. Programming means loading a HEX file in to the Flash, not, writing your program.

M8C Programmers (from m8cutils)

Postby werner on Mon Jun 12, 2006 8:16 pm

The m8cprogs package contains schematics, PCB
layouts, and firmware (where applicable) for several simple
programmers for M8C/PSoC chips. All this was previously
part of the m8cutils package, but it's cleaner to keep the
two separate.

Note that the host software to drive these programmers is
still in m8cutils, and will remain there.

There are no changes with respect to m8cutils-12.

Gradual conversion from gEDA/PCB to Kicad, and a new programmer:

sha1sum 63675848f18f1d591ee4f76dde9ba08a151b2eed

This release converts watpp from gEDA/PCB to Kicad and also adds a
discharge resistor for power-on mode. (Note that watpp's power-on
mode powers the target from the parallel port, which doesn't work
very well. I'll correct this in a future version.)

There is a new programmer, called wadsp (Werner's Discrete Serial
Programmer), which is similar to watsp, but is even simpler, using
a diode as the only active component. It comes in a through-hole
and in an SMT variant.

As usual, the corresponding host software (m8cprog) is part of
m8cutils, also available from http://m8cutils.sourceforge.net/
Support for wadsp will be in version 20, due real soon now.

If you're interested in building a wadsp programmer, you may find the following
page useful:

http://m8cutils.sourceforge.net/progs/wadsp/

It shows the different layouts and also introduces a new Perfboard-based
variant. The sources for schematic and layouts can be found in
http://m8cutils.sourceforge.net/m8cprogs-1.tar.gz

Patch to support IDiot's parallel port programmer

Postby bqviet on Sun Nov 25, 2007 8:28 pm

Here is a patch for m8cprog to support IDiot's parallel port programmer (enhanced from Aji's Type3). Now we can use one programmer for both Linux and Windows.
