Getting Started with PSoC

First, welcome to PSoC! There is a lot to learn, but, there are also great benefits ahead of you. On this page you will find some basic getting started information and links to other resources.

Training

Cypress offers several free on-line PSoC training classes called Tele-Training. These classes are a combination of an on-line presentation and a telephone conference with a Cypress Applications Engineer. Visit the Cypress web site for the latest schedule and prerecorded on-demand versions of the classes.

Software

At this point in time you have two choices for PSoC development software: PSoC Designer and PSoC Express. For most users PSoC Designer will be the right tool. PSoC Designer is free, but, is a hefty download, so, you might want to start downloading now.

Documentation

Yes, you have to read the manual if you want to become a PSoC Jedi. Start off by giving the PSoC data sheets a once over followed by spending some time with PSoC Designer. Once you have a feel for things and you want to get down to business checkout the PSoC Technical Reference Manual, software user guides, and application notes. Once you are ready to get started check out the Documentation section here at PSoC Developer.

Hardware

The Cypress ICE-Cube is really a must have for PSoC development. The ICE-Cube provides a full in-circuit debugger meaning that you can debug your PSoC code while the chip is operating in your product. The debugger allows you to set breakpoints in your code, single step though code, record a trace of your code, and much more. If you are really strapped for cash you could use the MiniProg from Cypress to program the PSoC, but, this is much less efficient.

Support

With the documents here at PSoCDeveloper and the thriving developer forums what more could you need? I'm sure there is something, so, don't forget to check out the support resources at Cypress.
