The applications for entrance to Science & Technology courses in Ireland have dropped significantly in recent years. The Irish Government Agency Forfas has recognised the problem and have started various initiatives to try to increase awareness and interest in these fields of study. Research and development has been carried out to develop a wireless remote controlled skeleton PSoC & PRoC Technology. The skeleton is primarily used as a demonstrator of various sensors/technologies to school children ranging in age from 6 to 18 years. This is seen as one way to encourage more people to take up Science & Technology courses at Universities and Institutes of Technology in Ireland. RoboSkeleton (Fred) can move around the floor, move his head randomly or in response to touch, speak , sing, sense humidity, temperature, light, motion and touch. The PSoC and PRoC devices available from Cypress Semiconductor were employed in the design of RoboSkeleton.

More information can be found in the attached paper. This paper was presented at Kiev Polytechnic Institute’s XXVIII International Scientific Conference in Ukraine on April 15, 2008.

PSoC Rocks

All these projects calling' me
I got to get them done. I need mixed signal programmability
Where does it come from?

Chorus 1
All the engineers are drinking’ their beers going
PSoC Rocks!, PSoC Rocks!
All the designers from LA to Carolina go
PSoC Rocks!, PSoC rocks (Repeat 4x)

Verse 2:
I need to get to market fast
It keeps me up at night
Things are changing, they don’t last
I got to get it right

Chorus 2:
If you need a design that will turn on a dime
PSoC Rocks!, PSoC Rocks!
You’ll even have time to make your own wine
PSoC Rocks!, PSoC Rocks! (Repeat 4x)

I've got some PALs from 1982
Program them just like my granddaddy do
He was an engineer and I am too so
PSoC Rocks, yes PSoC Rocks!

Spoken:
PSoC Rocks, PSoC Rocks
PSoC Rocks, PSoC Rocks
PSoC Rocks, PSoC Rocks, PSoC Rocks
